What is the Western Cash Advance Program

The WeCAP (Western Cash Advance Program) is a government-backed program that gives eligible producers access to up to $1,000,000 in advance funds, with the first $250,000 interest-free.

This program gives you the working capital you need to:

  • Cover operating costs

  • Pay bills during tough months

  • Delay selling until markets improve

  • Manage cash flow through the production cycle

You stay in control of your operation while gaining some breathing room on your balance sheet.

  • To qualify, you must:

    • Be a Canadian producer (individual, partnership, or corporation)

    • Be producing eligible commodities (including cattle, crops, and more)

    • Be responsible for marketing your own product

    • Meet basic credit and production requirements

New producers are welcome! If you're unsure whether you qualify, reach out—we’re happy to walk you through it.

    • $250,000 interest-free

    • Additional funds available at low interest

    • No payments required until you sell your product

    • Backed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)

    • Simple application process with real people, not robots

  • You can apply for cash advances on a variety of commodities, including:

    • Feeder cattle

    • Breeding stock

    • Grains and oilseeds

    • Hay and forage

    • And more

Need help determining eligibility? We’re just a call or email away.

  • Unlike a big bank, we know cattle—and we know Alberta.
RVBA staff are producers themselves, and we take the time to make sure you understand your options, your repayment terms, and how this fits into your broader operation.

We’re local. We’re responsive. And we’re here to make this process as smooth as possible.
